Private Gideon Warner 17xx - 1843

Gideon Warner enlisted before his xxth birthday. He lived to be almost xx years old and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.

 

Biography of Patriot Gideon Warner

 

The biography of Gideon Warner is being written and should be available by June 2006. The sign in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery states: Gideon Warner, Massachusetts native, enlisted April 20, 1778 and served for a year as a private in Captain Pomeroy's company of Colonel Woods regiment in the New York State area. He is the only veteran of the Revolutionary War buried here in 1843.

Gideon Warner is buried near the center of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery only 10 feet from the flagpole. The Pleasant Cemetery is a small cemetery located on the south side of Geneva Road west of Wheaton. It is normally locked and not open to the public. To visit the cemetery call 630-668-1616 for an appointment.
