Fox Valley Chapter 2012 Events
We produce two formal meetings each year, and we have informal monthly
meetings hosted by our Chapter President, Rod Herbig, on the second Saturday of every month.
The monthly meetings are held in a comfortable atmosphere where members can sit down and have a nice conversation with Rod. They are held
in the back area of a nice restaurant, The Fox,
located on Ogden Avenue, and Main Street in Lisle. Rod has reserved the time from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm.
In 2012, the second Saturdays in each month are May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug 11, Sept 8, Oct 13,
Nov 10, and Dec 8. This is a good opportunity to met Rod and ask questions
about Fox Valley chapter or SAR activities. There is no need to call ahead, just drop by the Fox Restaurant, any time from noon to 2pm.
Photos and details on our events from 2003 to 2011 are available in the
Photos & Events section.

Our speaker
is Gillum Ferguson speaking on: the topic of Illinois in the War of 1812.
Mr. Ferguson is uniquely qualified to speak on this topic since his research
has led to the only book on the subject.
Gillum attended Harvard College, and the University of Illinois College of Law.
He served for twenty-five years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago. Gillum has a lifelong interest in the history of Illinois,
his birth state. When he discovered the lack of any book devoted to the experience of Illinois during the War of 1812, a crucial stage
in the transition from territory status to statehood, he devoted two-and-one-half years of research among the original documents to produce his book.
Please join us for this special opportunity to learn about Illinois in the War of 1812. Copies of Mr. Ferguson's book will be available for purchase.

His talk is entitled Reporting the Revolutionary War: Before it was History, it was News.
Colonial newspapers published between 1763 and 1783 fanned
the flames of rebellion in America and aided its ultimate outcome. Read more about Todd Andrlik, who attended our Fox SAR Saturday chapter meeting on August 18, 2012, in
