Our speaker was Compatriot Denny Schillings. His rarely discussed topic was: Contributions made to the American Revolution by the Quakers and other Non Combatants. This delightful and informative presentation covered new material to our members and guests. |

October 28th 2018 Luncheon MeetingPhotos from our Fall Luncheon Meeting in the Gettysburg Room at Lincoln Inn Banquests, 1345 South Batavia Ave (Rte 31), Batavia, IL 60510. At our luncheon, we had a moment of silence for Compatriot William Diehl who passed away on September 30, 2019. We inducted new officers, headed by President Ted Miller. We recognized and thanked our outgoing President, Harry Reineke IV. Our speaker was Michael Holub, a retired Chief of Police. Mr. Holub is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in the 3rd U.S. Infantry regiment, know as the Old Guard - in existance since 1784. Mr. Holub was part of the Funerals team at Arlington National Cemetery. His PowerPoint Presentation (with sound bites) highlighted all of the Speciality units of the Old Guard including the Tomb of the Unknowns, Fife & Drum Corps, Drill Team and Casket Teams. This presention was a big hit with members and guests. |

Other Fox Valley Chapter 2018 EventsWe had informal monthly meetings hosted by our Chapter President, Harry Reineke IV, on the third Saturday of every month at 11:00 AM. The monthly meetings were held in a comfortable atmosphere where members can sit down and have a nice conversation with Harry and other members. For 2018 our meetings will be held at The Fox Restaurant in Lisle. Get directions on Google. We participated in the DuPage County Genealogic Convention on Saturday, March 10 from 9AM to 4 PM. If you are interested in attending, register before February 10 for the best price. The convention was held at the Northern Illinois University Conference Center at 1120 East Diehl Road in Naperville, IL. We conducted a patriot grave marking on Saturday May 19, 2018 for Daniel Burroughs who is interred in the Griswold Cemetery in Plano, Kendall county, Illinois. We prepared for marking patriot Burroughs grave last year, but the weather did not cooperate and we had to cancel the ceremony at the last minute. We welcomed donations to fund the purchase of the historical marker and expenses associated with the ceremony. An example of the historical marker can be seen in this photo from our grave marking ceremony for patriot Abner Powers in 2016. Parade Schedule for 2018 Our chapter participated in several parades in 2018 as is our custom. We encouraged members to participate whether in historical uniform or not. We are not reenactors and do not require historical garb to participate. Men contacted Color Guard Commander Jon Fixmer who were interested in joining us for a parade. We are marched in the following parades in 2018:
